When Peggy Thatcher, owner of Bridge City Cleaning Service, left nonprofit management to raise a family, “I wanted a part-time job,” she recalls. “I keep a clean house, and a friend suggested that I start a cleaning service.”
Peggy soon discovered that other stay-at-home moms were looking for a similar job opportunity, and Home Tek, LLC was born in 1999 to service residential customers. In time, the demand for business services grew. Bridge City Cleaning Service was launched in 2005.
Today, Peggy employs a crew of 12, and specializes in both residential and commercial office cleaning. Her clients include homeowners, business owners and managers, home remodelers and contractors, property managers, and real estate agents who live or do business in the greater Portland, Oregon area: East and Wide Side of Portland, Gresham, Happy Valley, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Tigard, and Tualatin.
Peggy takes pride in having reliable work crews. Appointments are set in advance, and reminder phone calls are made a day or two before. “We rarely miss an appointment,” she says, “And we’re always on time.”
Training is important. “Not only are we licensed and bonded, we personally train our staff in how to clean effectively and efficiently. We teach them how to work with each client, so every home gets a personalized cleaning,” Peggy says.
